On Monday 12/14, I received an email from Mark Kinkade. That name might be familiar to some of you. He and his twin brother Mike attended school in Tonasket for a few years, they were in my grade. Mark worked with John on the Highlands 20 crew. He still works for DNR, but he isn't with Highlands any longer. He had run across some photos and reached out to share them and express some thoughts on John. His email is below and the photos are attached.

Hello Leah,
I was going through some of my old fire boxes and I mean old and ran across some pictures that brought some great memories back to me about your father. He is one of those people that I have always had admired and had great respect for. He is also the reason why I made the DNR a career and was on the Highland Crew for so long, (26 years). I never wanted to leave until I had his position and could use the leadership skills that your father used with us. I never got to thank him personally and wished that I had. Anyway, here are some photos I thought I would share with you. I’m the one with the red hat in the bottom picture. Mark

Anyhow, I figured you all would like to read the email and see the photos, as well.
Happy Holidays!
