Last rest day in Lézinges-Corbieres

Submitted by superme on Wed, 06/14/2017 - 13:05

Today we returned the car and because it was almost 88 degrees by then we opted to stay and ride out early tomorrow.

we got lucky and discovered it was market day so we found Doug a loose cotton button up shirt and a gel set cover for his new bike. Then we hung out at a cafe as the temperature passed the 90s drinking a glass of cold white wine(me) and cold beer ( Doug) and then having salads for lunch. Then we came back and napped because when you are stuck outside in a small patch off hot shade for several hours it is hard to do A lot. I spend my days dripping with sweat. Then The usual prep for a morning departure, a last shower, wash some clothes, layout breakfast items, (but keep them in a bag, a small band of biting ants moved into my food side pannier today when someone left the zipper open. I had to spray them with a big off because they wouldn't shake out, it was a last resort and I still feel bad. They got there because I tied a clothesline around a tree and stretched to a small picnic table in our camp. I put the pannier on the table to be off the ground ---- away from the ants on the ground. The tree ants marched across the clothes line and climbed onto the table and moved in! Crazy! Only about 2 dozen, but 2 dozen too many), then a last charge on the phone and packing the bikes.

We are serenaded by cicadas ( since about 7am), it is nice and a little too much,

i forgot to mention, the humidity is high here, this morning it was 82%
