Connie and I went to see the Indigo Girls last night at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Olympia. The concert was opened by Lucy Wainwright Roche. She was wonderful and adorable. She is the half sister of Rufus and Martha Wainwright. The Wainwright siblings and their relatives, The Roches, The McGarrigle Sisters, Loudon Wainwright III, are all musicians, singers, songwriters,... The show was beautiful. It was low-key, minimalistic, acoustic, intimate. I knew only a few of the songs they sang, which means I need to pay more attention to the music they are creating. IT also made me realize I need to go to more "cultural" events.
Thess is coming to town today. Connie and I are picking her up at the Amtrak a little after noon. Looking forward to seeing her. It's been a few months. She'll be here until Monday afternoon, so I hope we can all get together for some Fenner family time.
